Offline too often

Nice app, looks pretty and great when it works, but what use is a security cam app when its offline so often that you cant view your house for days and days when youre away?

Fantastic device!

Owned it for eight months and it works great. Very dependable. Will be getting the new one soon.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE my Piper!

We were looking in to getting home security after buying our new home, and couldnt really afford the ones like ADT ect.. So this fit perfect in our budget. After my husband deployed to Iraq, I was left alone with a toddler far away from family and friends, so having Piper helped ease my mind. I havent yet encountered any issues or glitches since having it. I wanted to wait about 5 months before writing a review just in case, but so far its been PERFEXT!!

Love Piper, needs a few features

I have been using Piper for a few days now and would recommend several updates to the App: 1. It would be nice for Piper to use the phones GPS and automatically turn off when I arrive home. 2. Adding a section under "rules" for selecting a time and/or date range to activate Piper. For instance, I would like Piper to be able to automatically switch from "off" to "away"( or whatever setting you wish) from 11pm until 6am, while I am asleep. 3. There needs to be a way to deactivate the siren within the app. Create a separate password to deactivate it- but not being able to turn that thing off easily is a huge problem for the user. I have also been having issues with Piper not registering movement and recording videos. It seems it waits a certain amount of time before alerting/recording a new video- this is annoying and a potential reason not to buy Piper. You would think spending the money on a device dedicated to this activity would work better than a simple iPhone app- such as Presence (which uses an old phone/iPad/iPhone as the camera and does essentially everything Piper does)

Very very poor video quality

This is by far the worst video quality. None of the people in the video can be recognized. So pixelated and blurry. This is in no way 720p. My Foscam 640x480 is honestly 4k in comparison. If someone breaks in and you cannot identify the intruder what good is the system!? Also customer service was slow to respond and the process took over a week. Close to 2 weeks for them to say the video quality is normal. Go elsewhere for your system

Generally a crappy device

I am afraid to try the upgraded software because of the terrible results I already have, and the Piper reviews on this blog site. My $200 could have been donated to a charity or worthy cause instead of this erroneously called security camera.

App and security system doesnt work anymore

Since the last update, my cameras -except the first one installed- dont report any activity anymore. You can jump and walk in front of the cameras. No alert issued. Since the new app came out, the system has become completely useless. $ invested on 4 cameras (>$1000) a complete waste.

Hit or Miss, mainly Miss

Everything on the website makes this appear to be a best-in-class solution. Ive had the Piper for 2 years and counterintuitively it has gotten worse over time due to the software updates. With every update some piece of functionality becomes buggy and unusable. As many users have stated, Piper only records one incidence and then stops until you reset the system. Plus, the hardware is slow and video lags. Also, since they sold the company about a year ago, it has been about profits over product. So disappointing. I wish I could get my money back.

Works great....needs iPhone 6 support

This app works flawlessly with the camera and door sensors. I am very happy with the purchase and look forward to trying more home integration. My only criticism is that the app is not optimized for iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. They have been out for over a year, and nearly all of my apps have been updated except for this one.

Piper continues to trail the pack

Piper is a slick-looking device with a great marketing team behind it. Once you get one, however, you realize how far behind they are vs. the competition (Smartthings, Vera, etc.) This update attempts to improve the product, but offers just more eye-candy (marketing-driven software development) and breaks a fundamental feature - deleting events no longer works. One useful new feature, if it works, is the ability to have Piper re-arm itself after an event. This, of course, should have been included since day one - who needs a security device that doesnt stay armed? - but took almost three years to be included.

Bad update

Great app. Bad update. Ive deleted my events history 10 times and they keep coming back. Please fix

Dont download

Just walk away. Worst update Ive seen. Cant delete the history, video isnt any better and the two-way talk is unusable.

Deleting Events Broken

Cant delete events. When you do they just pop back up after refresh. Please fix bug!!!!

UPDATE IT NOW

It is unacceptable that they havent updated their app after this much time since the release of iOS 9 and the new phones. I just purchased this product and it is effectively a bunch of the plastic that cost $200. Total garbage.

Dont update

Wait until 2021 when they update the app again but skip this one. Every event just piles up, cant delete or mark as read. However, you can spend more money on their website now! They link it directly from the app! Isnt that handy? Thank goodness they have their priorities in order.

New icons can’t hide worsening code

I upgraded after being badgered by the previous version to do so. Now it takes even longer for the app to connect to Piper, there’s no way to delete events, and the counter keeps going up—making it worthless. But now you buy accessories from within the app, so it’s got that going for it. In short, this is what happens when you let the PR department run the show.

Worst app EVER!!!!!!!

Dont buy it!!!

Ok

With the new version I delete the events but the come back every time I reopen the app This is a problem soon it will run out of room or space Piper has some great features, you can move the camera using the app, zoom in & out. But one thing that is missing is a schedule, I dont know how many time I forget and walk on to my Apartment and set off the alarm after work. I have Dropcams and you can set a schedule, but I went to piper because Dropcams dont alway work right and you have to pay for online storage. Piper just record when the alarm goes off not taking up space. I prefer the piper it works on my iPhone and iPad...

Still not optimized for 6/6+/6S/6S+ screens?!!

Why is this app still not optimized for 6/6+/6S/6S+ screen resolutions? Its been more than a year!!!

Best bang for your buck on the market

Very cost effective smart home device. App UI is clean and updated regularly. This company listens to user feedback.
