This newer version app works even better with Piper, an interesting new home monitoring security system that now has night vision. Even better with several units. No more call center and monthly fee. It lives off your wireless internet connection, gives you a live video feed to your smartphone and can remotely switch lights on and off and temperature, light, noise and motion sensors too. Pet friendly. Very much as advertised. App is well laid out and if you follow instructions, works like it should. Perfect for apartment dwellers who need a way to keep an eye on their home.
This is a very nice security system. Its easy to use and works relatively fast. I would like to see the Apple Watch supported in the future. This is the only feature that is really holding it back.
Love it! No wiring, no key pads & codes, no monthly expenses! Love the fact that I can customize different security features & be notified by push notification, text, email or phone call OR all of the above. I can check on the house via video on my iPhone anytime I want and even have it record if motion or loud sound detected; turn on & off lights & appliances, turn the heat up or down and so much more! The app controls it all and can even give me interior readouts of temperature, humidity, ambient light etc...LOVE IT!
Just got my Piper yesterday and I am absolutely thrilled by it. It does everything flawlessly and the set up was a snap. The siren will scare the pants off you - and it can notify you of changes to your home by email, text or a phone call. The video works great too - if you want it too - the Piper will record to the cloud when it detects either motion or noise. Works perfectly - I would highly recommend it!
What an amazing product! Does everything they say it will do. Their support team is fantastic. Able to watch my house while on the road or on holidays. Instant notification if someone breaks your rules. Well done folks. Will be looking for anything new from BlackSumac.

Some bad moments
Unfortunately I saw the bad reviews during the upgrade process and it was too late to stop
Awful interface , hard to see , understand and operate + it respond really slow
Piper you guys need to get you act together fast !!!
Was great. Was completely satisfied. Now the app has been updated (few weeks ago) and it no longer connects to the device so the camera is useless.
My first impression was that I liked the new app, but it seems when they cleaned up the design of the dashboard they made it difficult to find the features I use.
#1 is the Home Vitals screen (my favorite feature) - now I need to tap around to find it, where it used to be one tap from the home screen. And it got smaller and still shows only the past 48 hours.
#2 is Accessories - in the original version they were listed and controllable from the home screen, now I need to open the video to control them?? This makes no sense!!!
I love my Piper but I want the old app back pleeeze !!!!
Upgraded to this new work Piper app and rendered my Piper useless!!
They have taken a very good app and turned it into an awful one. I can find anything. It took me fifteen minutes to figure out how to turn my light off and on and I only stumbled over it by accident. Instead of this useless change they could have given the app the ability to hold two Pipers in two locations without logging in and out, an actual useful function. The Piper is an excellent device but is terribly mismanaged...time for some new personnel who listen customers.
The recent update is poorly designed and counter intuitive. The older version was much easier to use and navigate. All the functions are still here but just stupidly "improved."
